About me.
It’s hard to pinpoint the precise moment when I realised I loved cars. My dad, bless him, always insisted that I was never quite the same following a visit to a safari park in 1977. There I was, sitting on his shoulders, watching cars blast by on a stage of that year’s RAC Rally of Great Britain, when a Lancia Stratos streaked into view only to perform a full 360-degree pirouette in front of us. What struck me even as a pre-schooler was that this off-piste moment didn’t seem to hinder the car’s progress. It merely disappeared into the distance almost as quickly as it appeared. My interest was piqued and I have been obsessed with all things automotive ever since.
That’s one version of history. Other family members will wax nostalgically about other key events; ones that apparently tipped me over the edge. The point is, I have always loved cars; everything to do with them. Scroll forward to 1995 and I was scraping my way through university when my first-ever article appeared in print. I went on to enjoy staff roles on Classic & Sports Car and Motor Sport before departing for Planet Freelance in 2006. Since then, I have contributed to countless magazines, newspapers and websites, and also dabbled in other forms of media including TV and radio. I continue to produce copy for corporate clients, ranging from boutique sports car manufacturers to Formula One teams, and occasionally write about other subjects that interest me such as art, design, music and film.
I love what I do and am always eager to work with likeminded souls. If you think I may be able to help you, do please get in touch.
